fun things to do in regina

our beautiful city has a lot to offer

So, you’ve decided to pay us a visit in Regina and are wondering what to do in Regina? First of all, excellent choice! We love our fair city. It’s beautiful, full of history, and there are a lot of great things for guests (and locals!) to do while here.

If you’re looking for a good place to start planning your trip, you just found it. Here are some of our favorite things to do in Regina the next time you visit the beautiful Regina, Saskatchewan.

check out a museum

Regina has some truly amazing museums. The Royal Saskatchewan Museum is the oldest of its kind in the province, and one of the most popular family-friendly things to do in Regina. There are two locations in the city - each featuring multiple areas - offering exhibits on Earth sciences, First Nations peoples, and even a Tyrannosaurus Rex discovery center. Looking for a more hands-on experience? The Saskatchewan Science Centre is one of the most fun things to do in Regina for kids and families, featuring lots of interactive exhibits on everything from the human body to hockey. The Saskatchewan Military Museum is also a great stop for armed forces enthusiasts.

take a trip through time.

Regina was first established in 1882, and many of the city’s oldest buildings are still in use today. The Warehouse District was once just that — an area of town mostly utilized for freight distribution and goods storage. But given the evolution of modern shipping methods, many of the structures in this area have been repurposed as salon's, restaurants, specialty shops, and pubs. Scores of people flock to this area of the city at all times of the year looking for a good time.

have a picnic at wascana park

Regina is a city that truly cherishes her green space. And one of the most beautiful spots in the city for lovers of nature is Wascana Centre. Situated around the picturesque Wascana Lake in the southern part of the city, Wascana Park offers fun family activities all year round, including art exhibits, wildlife watching, festivals, canoeing and paddle boarding. Wacana Centre is also notable for being the fourth-largest urban park space in Canada — not even New York’s Central Park is bigger!

dig into some local culture

Regina has a vibrant local arts scene. In addition to the impressive collection of exhibits you’ll find at the MacKenzie Art Gallery, culture vultures will also find lots to love about the local music and theatre offerings. Conexus Arts Centre hosts a wide variety of performances by touring musicians, as well as being the home of the Regina Symphony Orchestra. Live theatre more your thing? Then you’ll want to head to the Globe Theatre, Saskatchewan’s largest and longest-running acting company. It’s housed in a beautiful building that was once the city’s post office and later City Hall, before being renovated as a performance space in 1966.

feeling lucky?

Place your bets, ladies and gentlemen. Located in a beautiful Beaux-Arts building that once served as Regina’s Union Station train depot, Casino Regina has been the city’s gaming hot spot for more than 25 years. Vegas-style table gaming, slots, and poker now fill the space, alongside live entertainment and top-notch bars and restaurants.

stop and smell the roses

Sure, this is Canada. And sometimes it gets cold here. But no matter what time of year it is, Regina visitors are always welcome to head to the Regina Floral Conservatory to get an eyeful of colour and a nose full of delicate scents. The Conservatory is home to countless species of flowers, trees, and other botanical wonders. In addition to many seasonal displays, visitors will also discover a large array of plants not native to the area, such as cacti and other succulents. Best of all, admission is free.

get wet n' wild

Guests of The Atlas˚ Hotel have another exclusive entertainment option open to them. Our own Soaked! Waterpark is a wet and wonderful blast for the whole family, featuring waterslides, a swimming pool, hot tub, digital water curtain, and more. Bring your suits, jump in, and make a splash!

This is by no means a comprehensive list, but it does represent a few of our favorites. Of course, the team at The Atlas˚ Hotel is always happy to suggest something fun for you to get up to. No matter what you’re into, chances are, Regina has something that’ll pique your interest. We look forward to seeing you in Saskatchewan!
